The short version: reading this site sets no cookies at all. There is no analytics and no advertising. The one small script here, on the home page, opens the Instant Quote button pop-up from the website box, and offers to open it again if you close it; it sets no cookies, remembers nothing once you leave, and sends nothing anywhere, which is also why you never see a cookie banner here.
One thing does set cookies, and only if you ask for it: the booking pop-up. This page explains that.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that the site can recognise the same browser later. Some are needed to make a form work. Others count visits or follow people between sites.
This site sets none
Every page here is plain HTML built ahead of time. No cookies are set, nothing measures your visit, and nothing is shared with advertisers. The home page carries one small script of my own, which opens the Instant Quote button pop-up when you use the website box, and offers to open it again if you close it; it sets no cookies, remembers nothing once you leave the page, and sends nothing anywhere. My host keeps short-lived server records for security, which is not the same as a cookie in your browser.
The pop-ups
When you press a booking button, the free Instant Quote button or the website box, a panel opens over the page showing a form from site.everybooking.com, which is my own software, Everybooking. That page is the part that sets cookies, and only from the moment you open it. Every page has the booking pop-up's frame in it, including this one, but the frame is marked to load only when the pop-up is opened. The Instant Quote button pop-up is only on the pages that offer it.
- Keeping your place: a cookie and similar browser storage remember where you are in the form and what you have typed, so closing the pop-up and opening it again doesn't lose your answers.
- Keeping it working: Everybooking uses error reporting and security checks, provided by other companies, that may set cookies to tell a real visitor from an automated one.
- Measuring use: Everybooking measures how people move through its booking pages so the pages can be improved. This is about the booking form, not about following you around the internet.
If you would rather not load any of that, don't open the pop-up. Email me at kevin@everybooking-mail.com and we'll arrange a time that way.
Turning cookies off
Every browser can block or delete cookies in its settings, and can block third-party cookies on their own. Blocking them leaves this site working normally. The booking form may forget your place, so you would have to fill it in one sitting.
If I email you, the tool that sends it may record whether the message was opened or a link was clicked. I use that only to judge whether to follow up. Every message has an unsubscribe link.
Changes and contact
