Kevin Penner

I help service businesses answer faster and stop quoting by hand.

Your customer asks, then waits. At my own retreat centre that wait was 17 hours. Now the first quote takes seconds and any follow-up minutes, and I spend under four hours a week on 250 to 400 inquiries a month.

It answers quote requests in seconds with your own prices and live inventory, day or night.

Nine quick questions so it quotes the way you do, about three minutes. You see your own homepage with the button on it. Nothing to buy.

Background

Why listen to me

I've been on both sides of the problem.

I've spent more than three decades running service businesses.

I've answered the inquiries. I've prepared the quotes. I've watched good opportunities sit in an inbox because nobody had time to get back to the customer.

That's why I built Everybooking.

Not because I wanted to build another piece of software, but because I wanted to solve a problem I've lived firsthand.

The problem

The customer is ready. The quote isn't.

Service businesses lose valuable time between the moment a customer asks and the moment someone can give them a useful price.

  1. Someone has to check availability.
  2. Someone has to work out the package.
  3. Someone has to calculate the extras.
  4. Someone has to write the quote.

If that person is busy, the customer waits. An inquiry sent on Friday night and answered on Monday is already behind: over the weekend the customer contacted other businesses, and the ones that answered got the conversation.

Harvard Business Review timed how long 2,241 companies took to answer a question sent through their own website: the average reply took 42 hours, and 23% never replied at all.

Harvard Business Review, “The Short Life of Online Sales Leads”, 2011. Other companies' numbers, not mine.

What I help with

What I help service businesses do

Everything here comes from running a busy venue and building the software to fix what slowed us down.

  1. Respond immediately

Give customers a useful answer while their interest is still fresh.
  2. Stop quoting by hand

Turn your real packages, pricing and rules into quotes that don't need someone to build each one by hand.
  3. Keep your team focused

Let your staff spend their time on the conversations that need a person, not on repetitive pricing and inquiry work.

Who it's for

If you sell services by the day, night, time, time slot or job, this is for you.

Venues were the start. The same problem shows up anywhere a customer has to ask before they can book.

You sell by the

Booked for a whole day, and back on the shelf tomorrow.

  • A hall, a barn or a whole venue for the day
  • A skid steer, a lift or a trailer, out in the morning and back at night
  • A boat, a site or a cabin used in daylight, with nobody sleeping over
  • A day pass, or a whole facility taken for one company's day

Booked by the night, where the bed is the thing being sold.

  • Overnight guest rooms, cabins and cottages
  • A retreat or conference centre taken for two nights with meals
  • Camp and RV sites
  • A whole lodge for a weekend, with rooms shared out among the group

Booked by the hour, priced by how long they keep it.

  • A meeting room or boardroom by the hour
  • A studio, a court, a lane or a rink
  • An instructor, a guide or a coach for a couple of hours
  • A hall for a rehearsal, an audition or a shoot

Booked into a spot on the day's schedule.

  • An appointment: a chair, a table, a treatment room
  • A class, a session or a lesson at a set time
  • A tour, a tee time or a boat departure
  • A visit window for a trade: the morning, or two o'clock

Priced by the work, not by the clock.

  • A move, a clean, a paint job or a repair
  • A wedding package, quoted as one price
  • A call-out, with the price set by what it is
  • A shoot, an install or a delivery quoted end to end

In every kind of business that sells that way

  • Events and venues
  • Weddings and celebrations
  • Stays, retreats and conference centres
  • Recreation and attractions
  • Sports and instruction
  • Wellness, beauty and fitness
  • Studios and creative spaces
  • Home services and trades
  • Moving and storage
  • Transport and vehicles
  • Marine and outdoors
  • Pets and animals
